A co-worker and I have been emailing back and forth with that game of
three facts- one is false, the other true, and guessing about each
other... I'm mildly amused at some of the things I've sent, so I'll post
them here :-)
********************************
I own more than 900 movies.
I once searched for pirate treasure on a real tropical island.
I'm allergic to shellfish.
**************************************** ********************************
I won blue ribbons at a fair.
I've ridden a horse, an elephant and a camel.
I once recited/performed Shakespeare on stage.
**************************************** ********************************
I prefer Pepsi over Coke.
I've been to 12 states (not counting just driving through, actually been
there for at least an hour).
I opened a restaurant, designed the menu and prepared food by the age of
10.
**************************************** ********************************
I once lived with about a dozen dogs and closer to 25 cats in the same
house.
I went to four different grade schools.
I've watched Gone with the Wind every year since I was 16.
**************************************** ********************************
I prefer peppermint to spearmint.
I prefer the apple juice to orange juice.
I prefer Splenda to Equal.
**************************************** ********************************
I didn't learn to cartwheel until I was in high school.
I didn't see the Princess Bride until I was in college.
I didn't go to Disney World until I was in my twenties.
**************************************** ********************************
I was afraid to get my picture taken with anyone at Breakfast with the
Characters on the Empress Lilly.
My favorite Walt Disney World ride/attraction is Alien Encounter.
I saw fireworks at the Magic Kingdom on the 4th of July.
**************************************** ********************************
I played Bloody Mary in the bathroom at school.
The first movie based on a Stephen King book I saw was Pet Sematary.
The first R rated* movie I saw in the theater was Blade.
(*using my own id, not as a guest of an adult)
********************************
Any ideas?

It didn't last. :( Georgie got a little better, but slipped back into a pattern of losing weight that she didn't really have to spare. On Sept 27, she was allowed to rest, and was buried at her home in Scantic.
Her entry has joined the In Memoriam page at Sunview Zoo.
We miss you, Pie.

ETA: Xrays came out good, blood work came back saying likely infection. ESM got some Pie medecine and hopefully, all'll be well!! Yay! Pie's an awesome Pie! Now to get back some of the weight she lost. Her sister Rubee should be the skinny model type, Pie's a real girl :-D
- Mon, 08:28: Sticking candles in cinnamon toast is treacherous if you light them before walking across the house :-P Happy Birthday @MarshmallowHell! :-D
- Fri, 08:12: RT @CW_Supernatural: Happy Birthday, Jim Beaver! (@jumblejim)
(ETA How on earth do I not have a Bobby icon??)
- Mon, 12:29: So... my new profile pic. Yeah. Not a great pic of me, but when are they? Instead, enjoy the loveliness of @dicksp8jr & @GrooveGoddess! :-D
- Tue, 08:34: Back at work when I'd really just rather be in our posh Boston hotel room, getting ready for another Q&A or epic karaoke party :-(
Another convention. Dude.
So back in 2007, wow, that long ago, I ventured, BY MYSELF, to a con. The first ever where actual celebrities would be present. We hadn't done SuperMegaFest yet, so this was totally new territory for me. I flew, BY MYSELF, connecting in Philly to Chicago, and went to Creation's first ever Salute to Supernatural (and Buffy and Angel and Smallville, allegedly, altho it was basically Nick Brendon & Mark Lutz there representing Buffy and Angel, and... Ackles? For Smallville? Yeah)
It was awesome and crazy and overwhelming and I loved it.
So they announced earlier on that this would be the first Creation SPN con in Boston. Yeah. Two hours away? Driveable? Doing it. So tax time let me purchase my pass- a gold weekend experience with Cocktail party, breakfast, and second row seat. (Kim only got general admission to Sunday but managed to get to sit next to me anyway!)
So I did all the con stuff- Chad Lindberg& Alona Tal's Q&As... a fantastic concert from Jason Manns, who has a much lovelier voice than even comes off in his recorded songs. Then... karaoke hosted by Richard Speight Jr & Matt Cohen on Friday night, featuring Chad, Alona and crazy drunken fans. Fun. Crazy. My feet hurt :-) Saturday started with Traci Dinwiddie's Q&A, where she said she'd tweet later if she got a chance to feed the ducks, 'cause we'd be invited. Then a neat presentation on the history of Ouija boards, and Matt Cohen's Q&A. (planking is overrated) Then... Traci tweeted! (not to be outdone by Matt, she was fearless). Richard had a Q&A after lunch & it was hilarious. I got my photo taken shortly after, with Richard & Traci. An amusing pair since their characters never met, but since they're two of my fave characters on the show, and two of the coolest Twitter presences? Totally fine by me!!

Brock Kelly was on a bit later, then we got to get autos from Matt (who dug that I had a screencap of Michael to be signed) & Traci (who had fun with the ducks & geese) & Richard (who appreciated that a friend had made me watch Band of Brothers, and that I was getting a photo signed for her of his role as Skip Muck). That night was the cocktail party, where Richard & Traci & Matt & Brock went around to each table visiting with gold weekend guests. Matt talked Florida college with another guest at our table, and Richard reminisced about past cons with a couple other girls at our table. Traci talked about the duck feeding, and Brock let me know he'd been working on the good karma playthrough of Infamous, and I warned him folks would be mean, throwing shit & kicking him if he switched to evil, but that folks were nicer overall in Infamous 2 :-D
Sunday dawned early with the breakfast, when we were visited by Jared Padalecki & Misha Collins. They bantered a bit, played to the locals (Jared memorized Good Will Hunting to get into Boston mode and learned it only annoyed people. It's an old movie, dude, really.)
Jared's Q&A was first, and the story he told of being on a train in Amsterdam and leaving Gen's grey bag on the platform, pushing the Do Not Push button with Richard looking on, planning to make a run for it but only having to pay 150 Euros for stopping ALL THE TRAINS (to Mark Sheppard's later jealousy and consternation)... WIN. Misha came out to basically make Jared's Q&A miserable as payback for making him break up during his coverage.
We got autographs from Jared & Misha and Brock after that. Bigtime security on Jared & Misha, yipes. When Kim got her autos, Jared seemed impressed by her giant Friday the 13th poster and she got approval and a grin from Misha at her Nip/Tuck screenshot, mid-yoga pose. Evidently Jared was baffled by it when she showed him later :-)
Richard had another (fantastic) Q&A [and I can't believe I have to edit to add that I have now heard Gabriel's line, in person "Lucifer, you're my brother, and I love you, but you are a great big bag of dicks." Also, he called Mark Pelligrino, and that was awesome.), then autos, where Kim had a couple, so let me get one again, altho I got him to sign for her, which he thought was sweet :-) Brock had another Q&A which turned quickly to video games when we learned it was the one subject he'd talk at any length about (not got the hang of storytelling yet, the kid, but he'll learn :-) seeing as he was only on a single episode.
Misha's solo Q&A was last, and it was an odd mix of fake answers and real ones, befitting the sort of enigmatic personality he's crafted for himself with the fans.
What a weekend. I'm off work today and exhausted and warm but so glad to have gone. If I don't leave the house today, I'll be happy :-)
I'd say I can't wait for the next con, but I really can. I don't have any specific plans for another one, and since I bought a Jim Beaver auto while I was there, am pretty set for awhile. Until they come to, like, Hartford. :-)

So I'd been providing a coworker with the most recent season of Supernatural so I could talk about developments with more friends at work :-) I'm such a pusher. What follows is from email between us, my words only. Thoughts on The Man Who Knew Too Much, the season 6 finale.
I really want to make an effort to flip back through the transcripts of every episode to see if I'm right, but in my memory, this is the second time we've heard Sam, in this case soulless!Sam in our Sam's head, say "Howdy" to someone. The first time was to Jake, when we were being given our first twinges of "maybe he didn't come back right after Dean's deal". Because, and again, I want to check this, but if I recall correctly, the only other characters to say howdy with that same kind of... sneer, I guess I want to say, are Meg & Azazel. So I LOVE that they've given it back to soulless!Sam in this, as he's taunting his "lesser" self. Exactly what our Sam wouldn't want to hear, even if it's only a subconscious recognition on his part.
I LOVE that he knew he was at Bobby's by recognizing that everything smelt like Old Spice and whiskey :-) So fantastic, that he knows Bobby's so well, that it's so familiar, that it makes us realize he's spent so much time there.
UGH that he had to kill memories-of-hell!Sam with a knife. That he hunted soulless!Sam with a gun was awful, but at least had that distance, that impersonal touch. But that he had to get right up in his own face, with that much torment, with a knife. :((( Poor, poor Sam. All of them.
Early on in the episode, as Castiel's explaining what's going on, he's so convinced what he's doing is right, is the best thing for everyone, that he's acting in the best interests of the earth. I don't think there's any kind of personal gain for him at that point, except that he's sort of getting to play the hero on a big level now.
Oh, the poor Impala!! Stupid demon cloud. Also poor Dean and Bobby, but we know right away that they're relatively okay from that :(
SO SO COOL that Crowley runs straight to Raphael after Castiel's threat. It's so perfect that he'd take that chance, risk himself going to an *archangel* just to get himself the power-by-proxy that Raphael means for him.
So okay, here we come to the end of the episode.
When Castiel comes back and they've all realized he's done the ritual, there's this look he gives Dean that I just couldn't read. It might be as simple as his version of an "I told you so" like, you didn't think I could do this, Dean, you didn't believe in me, and here I am, and I'm okay and I'm about to do this thing I set out to do, or it may be deeper than that, or it may just be me wanting to read more into it :-)
My point of disliking Castiel only *only* came when he so dismissively destroyed Raphael. He did THE SAME EXACT THING LUCIFER HAD DONE TO HIM. VERY BAD PARALLEL TO MAKE CASTIEL, WHEN YOU'RE MOMENTS AWAY FROM SAYING SOMETHING SO INSANELY DISOBEDIENT IN ANOTHER V.V. BAD PARALLEL. That I'm sure was entirely intentional on the part of the writers, 'cause they know fans notice things like that.
So POOR SAM again that he manages to get up the energy and courage and strength to try to kill Castiel, and then it DOESN'T WORK WHEN WE KNOW THE ANGEL BLADE WORKS ON *ARCH*ANGELS (and by the way, I'm totally joining a letter writing campaign to bring back Gabriel, yay!)[I did!] and Cas outright ADMITS that he's not an angel anymore, and oh, buddy you're not, but I don't think you're right about that last part either :( 'Cause guess what makes a God? I'm pretty sure it's not consumption (of souls) or destruction (of angels!!). Poor guy's on a horrible, awful power trip and those NEVER GO WELL IN SUPERNATURAL, BUDDY, TALK TO SAM ABOUT THAT KINDA THING, REMEMBER THE WHOLE STARTING THE APOCALYPSE BECAUSE HE WAS DRUNK ON POWER AND THOUGHT HE WAS DOING THE RIGHT THING???? ANYMORE UNFORTUNATE PARALLELS WE CAN FIND IN THAT, CAS, BUDDY??
I just facepalmed at it. Like I've said, it's a show, and, French Mistake meta episodes aside, it's its own universe, so doesn't intrude on any sort of religion or spiritual beliefs I have myself. So I reacted to it as something a character had done that I wholeheartedly disagreed with, but that I'm totally behind as a plotline on the show.
In related news... a week from now I'll be at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge. Creation Con!!!!
