heaven seems so far away

gettin' in right now don't look too good for me

1/24/10 01:54 pm - I love my new quilt!

So I got a gorgeous new quilt for Christmas from my aunt, and got a simple new curtain to go with it. I was sick in bed for most of this weekend, but managed to put away Christmas decorates (sob!) and hem the curtain yesterday (waaay overdid it. Was hemming in bed curled in my Harry Potter blanket). I redid my bed today (still need new sheets, but you can't see those, so yay!) so it all came together. There's still a bit more I'd like to do, but since I haven't decided what that is yet, and budget and my decorating abilities are at a minimum, this is what you get for now! Plus pictures of recent and not-so-recent updates, since it's actually kinda clean (Don't mind toys along the floor, we've got a kitten and it's like living with a toddler. Or a puppy. She's defective *and* evil.)

First off, I put these all in an lj gallery, so you can totally just browse here if you wanted. But if this is easier, then: pictures ahoy! )

12/24/09 08:19 am - Happy Christmas Eve!!

I hope the formatting on this isn't blown. I love that every year this gets forwarded around. My friends and I aren't in claims, but we still enjoy the chuckle :-)

I'm at work this am, on the phone with the people who know/guess we're still open :-) Then home to make a cake (chocolate chip and apple coffee cake!) and head over to my Aunt & Uncle's for Christmas Eve dinner and our Secret Santa gift exchange! On the off chance my family finds this, I won't share who and what I got :-) Tomorrow is Kim's mom's house and my parents' house, for food and gift giving, then Kim and I come home to the kitties tomorrow night to exchange our gifts to each other!

Until then... Enjoy!

11/22/09 12:49 pm - Super Megafest-worth the drive to Mass

Srsly? That's the name? But yeah. I'm hanging out in a conference room waiting for a q&a with Ray Park :-) Saw James Marsters earlier, where he told us that everyone was nervous about OMWF until they saw Xander+Anya's dance and talked about making the first accurate film Macbeth, and where everyone else failed. Kim + I got his auto after, and upon asking him for a bit of Spike's accent, got told no, he's moved on...in the accent :-)
First auto we got was Ray Park- I'll have to eta the pictures later. Got my pic taken with him, then when we went back to get an auto for my bro, Kim asked him for a hug for me. Such a sweetheart :-)
I'm surrounded by Jokers in here. Literally. Pseudo Dark Knight makeup with comic costume? Sigh, guys. Cute Harley wandering around and a very hot Ivy in a different group :)
I'm exhausted, Kim must be more so, having done a show in NYC yesterday. I was ready to go but I don't wanna miss Ray's q+a :)

Can I just say how much I wish I could stay home from work tomorrow?

10/9/09 06:24 pm - So.... new layout!

I like it. I refuse to poke at it too much. It looks odd on this computer, 'cause the monitor is wider than my cat, but it looks neat on my laptop.

So...yeah. I got a new car. It's awesome. It's a Subaru Outback, but the sedan, and it was like, an anniversary edition of some sort, 'cause the thing is loaded. I don't have a name for it yet, but the first song played in it when I drove it out of the dealer's?

ETA: OOH, bonus, check it out! Kim brought home presents for everyone today (well, the dog & cats got meat flavored treats, and I got this. Sorry for blurryness, I was excited!

9/24/09 06:46 pm - Happy Thursday!

I'm full of Long John Silver's chicken planks and hushpuppies, which is such an awesomely guilty pleasure. Supernatural is on tonight, so is Flash Forward- we're dvr'ing that to watch Vampire Diaries :-D

Randomly: I love this site.

9/14/09 08:26 pm - gip

so... Supernatural's back!

I'm car shopping, hoping I can get what I'm looking for for a decent price.

Patrick Swayze just passed away. Sad but, the guy's been fighting for so long...

9/4/09 09:03 pm - Fangirling from remote locales

So I'm in a motel room in Maine, my 90yo Nana in the next bed sleeping, watching season 4 of Supernatural (thanks, Kim) on my portable dvd player. This is the first time since, last Sept? that I've seen Lazarus Rising, and I'm realising how much I love this ep. Bobby throwing holy water at Dean, the hug!, Pamela :(, stupid Ruby (my SPN Umbridge), even Castiel. I can't wait for next Thursday.

8/31/09 02:22 pm - For no other reason than that it makes me laugh.

My worm went in my mouth and then I ate it, can I have another one?

No Ralph, there aren't any more... just try to sleep while the other
children are learning.

Oh boy, sleep! That's where I'm a viking!

8/22/09 10:17 pm

did he just squee? )

8/8/09 10:52 am - F'ing drama.

So, if you follow me on Twitter, or just glance at it now and again, you may have seen this morning's excitement.

Cut for lengthy car accident talk )

ETA (it's about 2:30 am on Thurs, we just got back from the drive-in): Our neighbor (VW) got a hold of the police report and made us a copy. Uninsured driver, bogus plates. Awe.Some. Why I hate people, reason 873.

8/2/09 07:15 pm - I'm dying. This is great.

Thank you, @SookieBonTemps.

7/31/09 02:56 pm - Random

As I'm hanging out trying to stay cool and not be miserable and in pain (grrr not working where's Kim with my chocolate?), I randomly remembered the macro that went around a few years back, that occasionally resurfaces, as all good macros. You know, the animated gif of the guys from Zoolander in the jeep, where various pop culture references get pastede on yay over the actors' heads? Yeah.

But the original is fantastic, fyi, if, perhaps, you watch HBO every Sunday at 9...

That is all.

7/16/09 04:10 pm

Not sure how much I like this layout. I wanted something different, so kinda just used one of the first images I came to that didn't need any editing. But the lyrics are from an awesome song- I'm quite obsessed with Shinedown lately.

On a different, more familiar note, I cannot wait to get home. I'm just so very bored and BLAH here at work. It's been such a long week, and I actually, astonishingly, get to sleep in tomorrow (Nana stuff on Saturday this week, which messes with my weekend, but it's alright.)

I was going to note the things I want to get done this weekend, but I think most of the time I manage to jinx myself out of doing it all. So let's not do that again. Oh! I plan to get a head start on the next issue of the magazine :-D

7/15/09 02:47 pm

I hope this works as a link but basically, Cleo is saying the exact stuff I wanted to:
HBP Discussion

7/15/09 09:18 am - 'Cause you care - my thoughts on Half Blood Prince

I will admit to being lazy... and hoping someone more eloquent and
thoughtful than I will compose thoughts similiar enough to mine that I
can just link and say "that, that's how I felt when I was watching the
credits roll."

Only vaguely spoilery, honest )

Random update- 6 hours and 47 minutes to Harry Potter!!

(Also, 1 hour and 12 minutes until I can get the hell outta work, while I'm all countdowny.)

7/14/09 09:38 am

Oh yeah, before I forget:

Happy (Day Before) Harry Potter Day!!!

See you all at the midnight show!! (Well, if you're going to P'ville AMC, you will! :-D )

7/6/09 01:06 pm - More blurry photos from work!

The werewolf in front of the Hogwarts Express is a bit blurry, but I just got it today with a set of POA figures. A coworker said her boys were cleaning and felt they'd outgrown them. Of course she thinks of me!
I dunno if I'd posted where my paper Coraline fit into things, so enjoy!

7/2/09 08:54 pm - more on flickchart...

I'm actually pretty cool with my top 20 as it stands, so I figured I'd drop it here to share and preserve it at the moment.

1. Ghostbusters
2. Moulin Rouge
3. Shaun of the Dead
4. Hook
5. Donnie Darko
6. Serenity
7. Pump up the Volume
8. Spaceballs
9. Grindhouse
10. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
11. The Blair Witch Project
12. Real Genius
13. The Dark Knight
14. American Psycho
15. The Little Mermaid
16. Cloverfield
17. Charlie's Angels Full Throttle
18. Beetlejuice
19. Back to the Future
20. Labyrinth

I'll totally defend all those, but know that 21-50 are all pretty damned awesome as well :-)

6/27/09 11:37 pm - Totally fluff, not at all thoughtful post.

No, really.

So there's this site, flickchart.com and it's awesome.

And wrong and bad and MEAN.

You pick between two movies which one you... liked more? Thought was better? It's a little of both, honestly. "Our pairing system shows you two movies, and you decide which of the two you prefer - whether it be the story, the cinematography, the director, a favorite line by your favorite actor, or any other traits you may find that qualify it as the better film. If you haven't seen one, or both, of the films, you use the designated buttons to let us know you haven't seen them."

Straightforward. Until you sign up and it asks you Jurassic Park vs Shaun of the Dead?
*blink* That's just mean. [Shaun. I remember how excited I was to have downloaded it before it was released here, and how many many many times I've watched it since. JP was awesome and I've seen it a zillion times, but Shaun is more where I am now...]
Back to the Future 3 vs Attack of the Clones?
*headtilt* Okay, thought provoking, but not impossible. [Back to the Future # wins. Sorry. Yes, Yoda's fight scene was the best ever, and the crowd at our theater for the (first) midnight showing was fantastic, but yeah, it's Back to the Future. And I like the third one!]
Exorcist vs Batman Begins?
*pout* [I actually went with Exorcist. Unfortunately, Batman Begins just creeps me out with all the bats. Exorcist is intentionally *scary*, not skin crawly, so it wins, despite an absence of Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman & Michael Caine.]

I feel like I could fill a whole post with these things, 'cause some of 'em are tough!

I mean, okay, so right now it's asking me Deep Impact or Moulin Rouge. And yeah, no brainer for me, but I do enjoy Deep Impact. C'mon, it's Elijah Wood! Some of 'em are WAY easier calls than others, tho. Any of the Pirates vs Royal Tenenbaums? *shudders* Yeah. I've mercifully forgotten most of what I disliked so strongly about RT from the first time I watched it while working at the video store. But I do remember that I disliked it. (And besides, it's the first Pirates. That's gonna stand up to a lot, if you ask me)(They say it only wins 46% of the time tho, interesting.)

But yeah, totally, great site. Caught it on twitter from [info]cleolinda : RT @cleolinda RT @scottEweinberg: Movie freaks: @Cinematical has your invitation to Flickchart. http://tr.im/q0Sv

Oooh Toy Story vs Jurassic Park. See, vs Shaun was tough. Toy Story tho... Jurassic Park actually wins for me for having come earlier in my life, whereas Shaun won for coming later.

I'm so flighty, aren't I?

ETA: I could totally post these all day, wow. Evil Dead vs Raiders of the Lost Ark? [Raiders, childhood won]
Flickchart by year: 1987. Gives me Lost Boys vs Near Dark. [Nice. Gotta go with Lost Boys, altho Near Dark was an awesome movie.]
