A Royal Affair - En kongelig affære     480p 18MB
UK trailer for this romantic costume drama from Denmark based on true events of the early 1770s. Centring on the intriguing love triangle between the ever more insane Christian VII (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard), the man of enlightenment and idealism Struensee (Mads Mikkelsen), and the young but strong queen Caroline Mathilda (Alicia Vikander). The drama is the gripping tale of brave idealists who risk everything in their pursuit of freedom for the people. Above all it is the story of a passionate and forbidden romance that changed an entire nation.
Movie won Silver Bears in Berlin this year for Best Actor (Følsgaard) and Best Script.

Won't Back Down     480p 27MB   720p 54MB
Inspiring drama about two determined mothers from different backgrounds - a postal worker (Maggie Gyllenhaal) and a teacher (Viola Davis) - who will stop at nothing to transform their children's failing inner city school. Facing a powerful and entrenched bureaucracy, they risk everything to make a difference in the education and future of their children. Also part of the cast are Holly Hunter, Oscar Isaac and Bill Nunn. Directed by Daniel Barnz (Beastly).

Dark Horse     480p 26MB   720p 52MB
Comedic family drama that looks rather tame for a movie written and directed by Todd Solondz (Happiness, Life During Wartime, Welcome to the Dollhouse). Which doesn't have to be bad thing.
It's about a thirty-something man (Jordan Gelber) in arrested development who lives with his parents, collects toys, and works in the family business. However, when he meets a thirty-something (Selma Blair) who has moved back in with her folks after a failed literary career, he sets out to shed the "dark horse" status in his family by marrying her. Christopher Walken and Mia Farrow play his parents, Justin Bartha, Aasif Mandvi and Donna Murphy round up the cast.

Hit and Run     480p 32MB   720p 63MB
Action comedy about a former getaway driver (Dax Shepard, who also wrote and co-directed and is engaged to the lead actress) named Charlie Bronson (yeah, that's right) who busts out of the Witness Protection Program to drive his girlfriend (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles so she can land her dream job. Their road trip grows awkwardly complicated, when they are chased by the feds (led by Tom Arnold), and increasingly dangerous, when his former gang of criminals (led by Bradley Cooper) enter the fray. Also part of the cast are Beau Bridges, Kristin Chenoweth, David Koechner, Michael Rosenbaum and Joy Bryant.

Frankenstein     HD480p 12MB   HD720p 42MB
Apparently, there will be additional screenings in movie theatres in June or July around the world for the award-winning stage adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic tale. It's written by Nick Dear and directed by Danny Boyle and stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller who alternate their roles (on different evenings) of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. I assume Naomie Harris will also reprise her role as Frankenstein's bride.
The play will be broadcast live in HD from the National Theatre to cinemas around the world. For more information about dates and venues, visit the National Theatre's website. Linked above is the short, new trailer. Also, a short teaser for last year's screening: HD480p 13MB   HD720p 28MB.
I wouldn't mind seeing this one myself.

Ficlet!

Title: Views of Exiting Empire
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairing: Aziraphale/Crowley.
Warnings: None.
Summary: Crowley feels dreadful, which, really, despite the fact that he is evil personified, the very tangible expression of Our Lord and Condemner on this lowly earth, suave owner of seven pairs of extremely expensive sunglasses and a state-of-the-art ansaphone, is not a particularly unusual state of affairs, relatively speaking.

Author's Note: Feel-better gift for [info]irisbleufic; on AO3 here.

( Such breathtaking views; archers of an afterthought. )

Fic Search

  • May. 15th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
Hopefully this is the right place to post this-- I couldn't find a fic search master thread/entry, but if there is one, please direct me to it?

I've been wracking my brain like crazy trying to find a fic, but I can only remember one scene and a couple of details.

I remember Crowley getting really angry at Aziraphale, but I'm getting a bit ahead of myself-- the scene I'm remembering involves some kids and a police officer, I think. I think they're street kids and Crowley sort of looks after them? There are two incidents, if I'm remembering correctly, but the first time I think Crowley convinces Aziraphale to leave them alone-- they were causing trouble, perhaps. The second time, Crowley discovers that they're in trouble, or about to be, with the police, and Aziraphale is nearby in owl form? I'm pretty sure he's an owl, anyways. But Crowley gets really angry and throws a rock at him?

Anyways, pretty soon afterwards, when Aziraphale disappears, Crowley discovers that Aziraphale was going to thwart the police officer somehow (I think something involving a pillow maybe?) so that the kids wouldn't get in trouble, and he feels pretty bad, since he did some damage to Aziraphale's wing because of a misunderstanding.

Er, and then I think he goes back to apologize and possibly help Aziraphale with his wing, which is really a mess because of Crowley.

I can't remember anything else from this fic, but I don't think this was the only scene from it, but it was the one closest to the end, I believe... Anyways, thank you very much in advance for your help! Not being able to find this is driving me nuts!

The Campaign     HD480p 56MB   HD720p 127MB
Parody of election politics directed by Jay Roach (Meet the Parents, Austin Powers, Dinner for Schmucks). When long-term congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district. Their man: naive Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis, more or less playing the same character as in Due Date), director of the local Tourism Center. Also part of the cast are Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott, John Lithgow, Dan Aykroyd and Brian Cox. There are also two campaign promos of the two candidates: VoteCam HD480p   VoteCam HD720p    VoteMarty HD480p   VoteMarty HD720p.
Looks exactly as you would expect with a pedigree like that. My biggest problem is why I should want to watch a parody about politics when the ongoing election campaign in the US will probably provide enough material to make me laugh. And cry.

Inseparable     China 360p 7MB   China 720p 23MB    Intl 360p 7MB   Intl 720p 20MB
From the oddity files, a comedic buddy drama from China that centres on a young man (Daniel Wu) with problems at home and work who is befriended by a mysterious American expat (Kevin Spacey) who tries to cheer him up. So the two start to wear self-made superhero outfits and fight crime. Among their targets, a corrupt Western businessman (Peter Stormare).
Looks quite entertaining. Movie premiered in China last week, but so far it's unclear if there will ever be an official release in Europe or the US. Two trailer versions to choose from.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green     HD480p 59MB   HD720p 167MB
Second trailer for this family movie from Disney that tells the "inspiring, magical story" of a happily married couple (Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton), who can't wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. They bury a box in their backyard, containing all of their wishes for an infant. Soon, a child is born, though Timothy Green is not all that he appears. Also part of the cast are Ron Livingston, Dianne Wiest, Rosemarie DeWitt and Common. Directed by Peter Hedges (Pieces of April, Dan in Real Life).

The Good Doctor     HD480p 30MB   HD720p 95MB
Drama about an ambitious but anxious young doctor (Orlando Bloom), eager to impress his superiors and colleagues: the Chief Resident (Rob Morrow), a self-assured fellow intern (Troy Garity) and a no-nonsense nurse (Taraji P. Henson). But things are not going his way and he can't seem to shake off his insecurities. When a 18-year-old patient (Riley Keough) is admitted for a kidney infection, he steps in, getting the much-needed boost of self-esteem he craves. But things take a dark turn as his enthusiasm begins to become an obsession.
I'm afraid, another severe test for fans of Orlando Bloom. If the links don't hold, you can watch the trailer online here. And if you want more, there's also a trailer version from Asia: 360p 12MB   720p 31MB.

Amour     480p 7MB   720p 21MB
It's only in French, but if someone wants to have a first look at the new movie written and directed by Michael Haneke (The White Ribbon, Caché, The Piano Teacher) that will take part in the official competition in Cannes at the end of the month. It's a drama about a couple Georges and Anne (Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva) in their eighties. They are cultivated, retired music teachers. Their daughter (Isabelle Huppert), who is also a musician, lives abroad with her family. One day, Anne has an attack and the couple's bond of love is severely tested.

The Amazing Spider-Man     360p 20MB   720p 67MB
Another four-minute preview (with a lot more Lizard) of the "summer's most anticipated film". I don't think anyone from Sony's marketing department can say that publicly with a straight face. If there's a (positive) superlative then I'd say it makes good use of the 3D medium.
